WALT: make and talk about different shapes using symmetry
Success criteria:
- identify lines of symmetry in objects
- make patterns which have line symmetry
- describe line symmetry in their own words
- fold paper systematically
- cut shapes from folded paper
- find number patterns derived from folding and cutting using a table
WALT: make and talk about 2D shapes by using symmetry
Success Criteria:
- identify 2D shapes by name
- name 2-dimensional shapes: triangle, square, oblong (non-square rectangle), circle, oval, pentagon, hexagon and diamond
- describe shape attributes in their own language
- explore and describe faces, edges, and corners of 2D and 3D objects
- make, name and describe polygons and other plane shapes
- describe the process of making shapes with line symmetry.
- name common two-dimensional mathematical shapes
